I'll never forget the time was I booked for a modeling gig and had an appointment with this celebrity makeup artist for an important event. Ya’ll I stepped into her studio and it was...a scene! Makeup products and brushes scattered literally everywhere, trash overflowing from the small trash can, and I was the first client of the day. Instantly, I could feel my standards slipping before she even started beating my face. I mean what could I do?! I could have of course spoken up or canceled, but baby, I just sat there and prayed that when she was done and when it came time to take the makeup off that my skin would be just fine! And guess what?! This happened not once, but TWICE!

Think it can’t get any worse than that? In Usher’s voice, WATCH THIS!

How about the time when I booked with this renowned hairstylist for a fancy, well-deserved vacation slay, who clearly didn’t practice basic appointment management? I showed up on time, hair prepped and ready to be laid, only to be asked "Who are you, and when is your appointment?" Like sis, the $700+ install appointment you just double-booked! Now see, I could have left and kept my money, but my hair needed to be done as I was leaving in a couple of days, and I didn't have any other free time to find someone else.

She tried to play it off by saying the lace for my wig needed extra prep time, so I'd have to come back in THREE hours! I wasn’t fighting through rush hour traffic twice, so I decided to just sit in my car. When I came back into the waiting room, I found myself watching tumbleweeds of shedded hair mockingly blow past as I had to wait another excruciating hour until she got finished with someone else’s hair. When miss lady finally graced me with her presence, it was night time, and the vibes were of course completely ruined for me!!!

Her station? A wreck! Her products and tools? Old, crusty, and tangled to the point she kept knocking her blow dryer and curling iron to the floor. For $700, the install was a straight struggle fest — lace lifting, hairline jacked, and the hair didn’t old a curl whatsoever. After asking to return the next day for maintenance and adjustments, she let me come in, but in a condescending way, she had the audacity to say it was my fault for being a newbie to lace frontals!

And that’s not even the end! Unfortunately, I ended up having to spend more money at a beauty supply store in order to finesse and melt that lace down myself while on vacation after watching YouTube vids for hours. An absolute money pit, but I'm basically a certified wig installer now from that experience.

Whew, what experience, huh?! I just had a few flashbacks writing that!
