Hey family & friends, beauty lovers, and supporters,
Before anything: the most meaningful way to support my business is always to book with me or refer someone who would love my work. If you feel led to pour a little further, donations are warmly welcome.
Although you've landed on my donations page, my greatest hope is still to earn your business. I am a working artist actively looking for paid opportunities, and if you're searching for a Luxury Professional Makeup Artist, know someone who is, or have a bridal inquiry, photoshoot, production, event, or creative project, I'd truly love the opportunity to work together. Every booking and referral helps me continue doing what I love while supporting my family through this season.
Earlier this year, many of you generously helped me begin rebuilding my professional makeup kit after returning to work following my car accident. I'll never stop being grateful for that kindness. Then life handed us the kind of news no family ever truly knows how to prepare for. After additional testing from what began as a routine doctor's visit, my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer.
Since May, I've quietly experienced every emotion imaginable—fear, anger, sadness, uncertainty, and, little by little, acceptance. Although her original surgery, scheduled just one month after her diagnosis, was postponed, that unexpected extra time gave us something we didn't realize we needed: room to breathe. It gave us a little more space to process the diagnosis, ask questions, prepare our hearts, and lean even more on our faith because, at first, everything was moving so fast. Her first—and, with God by our side, prayerfully her only—lung cancer surgery is now scheduled for September 14th. It's a date we've been preparing for with equal parts hope, faith, and anticipation, and it's been a season of learning how to grieve while still choosing to move forward.
One of the hardest parts was realizing I wasn't emotionally available to show up for my clients the way they deserved. Makeup is such an intimate profession, and I knew I couldn't pour into others while my own cup was running on empty. As a result, I leaned more heavily on driving Lyft while my business, rebrand, and bridal services relaunch took an unexpected pause. Between overdue bills, keeping our cars on the road, unexpected repairs, household expenses, business costs, and simply trying to make ends meet, this has become one of the hardest seasons we've ever faced. It's taken me a while to become brave enough to ask for this kind of help, but we've reached a point where we genuinely need our community.
If you're able and feel led to help financially, donations are deeply appreciated. I feel much more comfortable accepting support, here directly because every single penny counts, allowing more of your generosity to go exactly where it's intended instead of being reduced by processing fees on fundraising platforms like GoFundMe. I also gladly welcome professional makeup product donations from fellow artists. As many artists know, makeup doesn't last forever, and I'm approaching the time of year when I normally begin replacing foundations, concealers, and everyday kit essentials before they expire. My hope is simply to stay ahead so I'm not forced to replace everything all at once.
Every prayer, booking, referral, donation, and product contribution truly makes a difference. My goal isn't simply to catch up, but to continue building a stronger, more sustainable business while preparing for whatever the months ahead may bring. With my mom's recovery and ability to return to work still uncertain, I'm doing everything I can to create a financial safety net for our family while continuing to invest back into my business, proactively replace essential products, and transition more of my business expenses to annual payments that will reduce long-term monthly costs.
Thank you for believing in me, supporting my work, and walking alongside my family during this season. Your kindness has carried us further than you'll probably ever know.
With heartfelt gratitude,
April of Make Them More 🌹
